Auf dem Teller: Broccolisalat, Kimchi-Suppe mit Tofu, Tex-Mex-Bohnensalat, Hühnerschenkel auf Curry-Blumenkohl, geschmorter Wirsing mit Fleischpflanzerl, Fish and Chips vom Foodtruck und selbstgebackenes Apfelbrot.

On the plate: Broccoli salad, Black bean and corn salat with bell peppers, chicken leg with cauliflower sheet pan, smothered savoy cabbage and meatballs. We had fish ´n chips from a food truck and some homemade apple bread (swabian winter specialty for christmas)

Buch und Film: “Boys Life” fertig gehört, eine Geschichte über die Kindheit in den 60ern, teils mit etwas surrealen Einsprengseln, aber trotzdem sehr Hörenswert. Den Fantasyband “AO” habe ich nach dem ersten Band abgebrochen, war einfach zu schlecht erzählt. Serienmässig bin ich wieder mal im Star Trek Universum gelandet und reise nun mit Captain Janeway, leider für mich die schwächste Serie… I finished the audiobook “Boys Life”, which was a nice story of a childhood in the 60ies with some surreal Stephen King-esque add-on. Nevertheless a good story. Tried to read a german fantasy “AO”, but had enough after the first book – a waste of my time. I started Star Trek Voyager this week, although its not my favorite one.

Wir waren auf der Stuttgarter Herbstmesse, ein teurer Besuch, denn ich habe eine neue Nähmaschine bestellt, die Elna 680. Fast 200 verschiedene Stiche und andere Gimmicks…. Einweisung und Abholung sind dann hoffentlich nächste Woche. Nachdem ich 30 Jahre lang meine alte Bernina sport 702 hatte, ist das ein Sprung ins Computerzeitalter. Ich bin gespannt. We went to the Stuttgart autumn fair, which was a very expensive visit, because i finally tested some new sewing machines and ordered a ELNA 680 with almost 200 different stitches and gimmicks. I sewed 30 years on my old Bernina, so i am now entering a new level of technique. 

Reiseplanung: Nächstes Jahr soll es nach USA gehen, auf jeden Fall nach San Francisco,Yellowstone, Grand Canyon und Vegas. Die Planung läuft! We are planning next years vacations in the USA and pondering our route. San Francisco, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas are on our list.

Parfum: mein Motto war diesmal Vintage week, daher : Janine D., Shalimar EdT, Jil Sander No4, Gucci No3, Miss Dior (alte Version), Shiseido Zen EdC. Als Ausreisser am Sonntag Un Crime Exotique. I did a mostly vintage perfume week, so i wore Janine D, Shalimar, Jil Sander No4, Gucci No3, Shiseido Zen and on sunday a non-vintage Un Crime Exotique.

Auf dem Teller: Hummus, Shakshuka, Spaghetti mit Tomatensauce, Gyros mit Kalamaria beim Griechen, Feijoada und Gugelhupf mit Äpfeln.

On the plate: Hummus, Shakshuka, spaghetti with tomato sauce, gyros and squid at the greek restaurant, feijoada and bundt cake with apples.

Genäht: der Be mine Cardigan von Ellie and Mac aus senffarbenem french terry. Gemütlich zum daheim abhängen. I sewed the Ellie and Mac Be Mine Cardigan with some mustard french terry. I wanted a comfortable cardigan for lounging at home.

Diese Woche war Weirdo Week bzw. Art Scent week auf Nowsmellthis, daher kamen die etwas – sagen wir mal – eigenwilligeren Düfte unter die Leute: Dzing! (Pferdeäpfel mit Karamell-Popcorn) , Hyde (Honig am rauchenden Kaminfeuer), Salome (oldschool animalischer Chypre-Wummser), Bulgari Black ( Autoreifen mit Vanillegeschmack), Fourreau Noir (Omas Pelzmantel mit Lavendel-Mottenkugeln), Heeley Eau Sacrée (Cola-Weihrauch auf Badedas), Cafe Tuberosa (Tuberose auf Cappuccino)…

For NST weirdo week i wore Dzing! (horse apples with popcorn), Hyde (honey in a smoking chimney), Salome (old school chypre with lots of animalics), Bulgari Black (rubber vanilla tyre), Fourreau noir (grandma´s fur coat with lavender mothballs), Eau sacree (Cocacola incense bubble bath), Cafe tuberosa (white flowers on cappuccino).

Auf dem Teller: Maultaschensuppe, Blumenkohl-Kartoffelauflauf mit Käse, Koreanisches Bulgogi in Berlin, Döner beim Türken, Gebackener Kürbis mit Sumach und Feta.

On the plate: Maultaschen-soup, cauliflower-potato-bake with cheese, Korean bulgogi in Berlin, baked pumpkin with feta.

Auf dem Radio-Onko-Update wurde ich nicht nur schlauer, auch die angeschlagene Socke wuchs beträchtlich…. Ich kann zum Glück blind stricken, daher kein Problem…. Und natürlich viele Freunde und Bekannte wiedergetroffen. War wie Klassentreffen

I not only got updated on the latest news in Radiation oncology in Berlin, i also managed to make progress on my sock (thank god that i can knit without looking!). I also met many friends and collegues, so it was a bit like a class reunion.

 

Guerrison 9 complex Cream + Dupe

Achtung: Werbung! Beide Cremes wurden von mir selbst gekauft und getestet. Die Meinung ist gänzlich subjektiv und meine eigene Wahrnehmung.

Wer sich für K-Beauty interessiert, der kommt an einigen für uns seltsamen Inhaltsstoffen kaum vorbei. Schneckenschleim, Seesternextrakt und eben auch Pferdefett. Ja richtig, es wird wohl bei der Schlachtung von Pferden gewonnen, das ja auch bei uns noch hin und wieder gegessen wird. Angeblich importieren die Firmen sogar deutsche Pferdefett nach Korea für die Produktion.

Wer jetzt natürlich Vegetarier oder Pferdeliebhaber ist, braucht nicht mehr weiterzulesen, andererseits landen ja auch bei uns tierische Produkte wie Lanolin (Wollwachs) in den Cremes, und keiner stört sich daran, es sei denn er wäre allergisch. Wer allerdings damit kein Problem hat, für den könnten die Produkte durchaus interessant sein.

Die Guerrisson 9 complex Creme habe ich inzwischen aufgebraucht und fand sie gerade für die kältere Jahreszeit ziemlich gut. Die Creme ist leicht gelblich, riecht dezent zitrusartig und hat eine wunderbare, leicht butterzig-schmelzende Textur. Trotz der Reichhaltigkeit zieht sie schnell ein und hinterlässt – zumindest auf meiner 50+ alten, trockenen Haut ein angenehmes Hautgefühl.

Die Inhaltsstoffe sind auch nicht von schlechten Eltern: neben dem Pferdefett auch Ceramide für den Hautschutzmantel, Sheabutter und Jojobaöl für Feuchtigkeit, Niacinamid sorgt für strahlende Haut, Centella asiatica beruhigt.

Der Dupe von Scinic, die Mayu Moist Cream (für ca 10Euro über Ebay) enthält ebenfalls Pferdefett, Niacinamid, Ceramide 3, Centella asiatica, aber kein Jojobaöl. Vom Hautgefühl sind sie sich ziemlich ähnlich, riechen auch gleich. Gut kopiert, Scinic!

If you have an interest in K-Beauty you see some interesting things in creams, like snail slime, starfish extract or—- horse oil, yes…. horses fat, derived from slaughtered horses. If you love horses or are a vegetarian you need not read further, but the others should hear me out.

I first bought the Guerrisson Horse oil cream, which is a nice, yellowish cream with a smooth buttery texture. It smells a bit like citrus, but is not overly perfumed. Although it is a rich cream, it absorbs fast into my dry 50+ skin and does not leave much shine. In colder temps its really nice. Besides the Horse fat, it contains a lot of good things like ceramide, niacinamide, jojoba oil, shea butter and some Centella asiatica.

Its dupe from Scinic, the Mayu Moist Cream is a bit cheaper but feels just the same in texture and scent. It has no jojoba oil, but the other ones are in there too. I can recommend both of the creams for colder climates and dry skin.

Auf dem Teller (diesmal hatte ich irgendwie nicht so viel Zeit zum Kochen) Matjessalat Hausfrauenart mit Äpfeln und Zwiebeln, Linseneintopf mit Kalbskopf und gelben Rüben, Parsi-Hühnchencurry mit Aprikosen, selbstgemachte Pasta mit Lachs-Sahnesauce. In the kitchen (i had less time for cooking this week..) Matjes-salad with apples and onions, lentil pot with veals head, parsee chicken curry with dried apricots, homemade pasta with salmon and cream sauce.

Gehört und gesehen: Als Hörbuch aktuell “Der Report der Magd” von Atwood, als Buch den zweiten Band einer SF-Trilogie: Erst “Native Tongue”, jetzt “The Judas Rose” von Suzette Haden Elgin, der in einem paternalistischen Amerika der Zukunft spielt – plus Linguisten und Aliens. Ich habe beide Bände schon in den 80ies gelesen, jetzt gibt es sie auch aus Kindle-Versionen. Wer intelligenteren SF mag, der sollte da mal reinschauen. Auf Netflix schaue ich gerade Star Trek Discovery, auch nicht schlecht!

Seen and heard: Audiobook ” The Handmaid´s Tale”. On Kindle first “Native Tongue”, now “The Judas Rose” bei S. Haden Elgin. If you like intelligent, a bit feministic SF, both are a good read. The author is a linguist herself, so its an interesting thought, that she develops. On Netflix i am watching Star Trek Discovery.

Gemacht: Der York Pinafore Dress ist fertig und wurde auch schon fleissig getragen. Super bequem, denn in der Taille kneift nix, und die grossen Taschen sind so praktisch. Ein zweiter ist schon geplant.

Made: My York Pinafore Dress is finally finished and has been worn a lot. It is really comfy and the big pockets are so practical. I will make another in olive corduroy soon.

Besucht: Das Pfarrer Hahn Museum in Kornwestheim, das jeden ersten Sonntag im Monat geöffnet hat. Pfarrer Hahn nicht nur Kleriker, sondern auch Erfinder und Astronom und hat auch die erste funktionierende Rechenmaschine entwickelt, die alle Grundrechenarten beherrscht. Oben seht ihr ein Astrolabium von 1800.

Visited: The Pastor Hahn Museum in Kornwestheim near Stuttgart. This guy not only was a cleric, but an astronomer, mathematician and inventor. He invented the first mechanical calculation machine, which really worked. He also made the beautiful astrolabium you can see above.
